New National Award for Emerging Animal Scientists

9th March 2026

The Australian Association of Animal Sciences (AAAS) is launching the inaugural Emerging Animal Scientist Award, to be presented at the AAAS 2026 Biennial Conference in Adelaide.

This national award will recognise an Early- or Mid-Career professional who has made an outstanding contribution to animal science during the biennium. Importantly, the award is open to AAAS members, and the recipient will present their work at the AAAS 2026 Conference.

Recognising outstanding early-career animal scientists demonstrating innovation, impact, and engagement across research, industry, education, or extension. Open to AAAS members within seven years of their highest degree, the award highlights future leaders translating science into practice.

The award is proudly sponsored by the McCaughey Memorial Institute and will become a biennial recognition of emerging leaders in Australian animal science. Includes a $3,000 prize, commemorative plaque, and conference presentation, with nominations assessed on excellence, impact, leadership, and relevance.

All applications must be submitted by 12th April 2026.

Please email your application to aaas2026@kamevents.com.au clearly identifying in subject line which award.
