AAAS Queensland & Northern Territory ‘Next Gen’ Travel Grants

The Australian Association of Animal Sciences (AAAS) – Queensland &  Northern Territory branch is offering 5 x $1000 travel grants to support students, producers, extension officers, researchers and other animal science professionals attending the 33rd Biennial AAAS conference in Fremantle. The awards can be used to offset the cost of conference registration and travel to Western Australia to attend the event.

Your application should include the following information:

  • Name
  • Statement of eligibility
  • What you hope to achieve by attending the conference

The awards are open to those currently working in animal science, conservation or production, or undertaking a relevant degree, and are targeted towards young and early career animal scientists and industry professionals. For the purpose of this award, animal science includes livestock, equines, companion animals, aquaculture and wildlife.

To be eligible you must

  • Be currently based in Queensland or the Northern Territory and
  • Be 35 years or younger in 2020 or be currently studying towards a related undergraduate or
    postgraduate degree or have submitted your PhD/masters thesis in the last 10 years

Payment of the award
Recipients of the award must be AAAS members or become members before receiving payment of the award. Membership is available online at
Payment will be made in two stages. $800 will be paid on proof of registration. The remaining $200 will be provided after the conference following submission of a short report (~200 words) outlining your highlights of attending the conference and including a photo taken at the event. The report and photo will be used by AAAS on our website and in social media to promote future activities and membership of the association.

Notification of awards
Applications will be judged by members of the AAAS Queensland & Northern Territory committee. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their submission by 7 th August 2020.
